【About the lecturers】

Shiga Hiroaki

Hiroaki Shiga has researched aid policies and the role of Japan’s ODA based on his many years of work experience at JBIC, JICA, and the International Bureau of the Ministry of Finance on Japan’s ODA and World Bank assistance to developing countries. He has co-authored several books in English and Japanese, contributed articles to World Development, IDS Bulletin, International Relations, and Journal of International Development Studies, and has lectured at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). He is a professor at the Graduate School of International Social Sciences, Yokohama National University.

Yuki Miyoda

Project Researcher at the Sustainable Society Design Center, Graduate School of Frontier Sciences, The University of Tokyo; Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) Postdoctoral Fellow (PD). Yuki Miyoda specializes in international relations, global governance, sustainable development goals (SDGs), and sustainable investment. After graduating from Keio University’s Faculty of Law, Miyoda worked at Mitsubishi Tokyo UFJ Bank (now MUFG Bank). Following this, Miyoda pursued further studies at the Graduate School of International and Public Policy at Hitotsubashi University. During the doctoral program at Hitotsubashi University’s Graduate School of Law, Miyoda also worked at the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI), an international organization promoting ESG investments. After obtaining a Ph.D., Miyoda served as a Junior Fellow and Lecturer at Hitotsubashi University’s Graduate School of Law before taking on the current role. Miyoda also manages the Japan Sustainable Investment Forum (JSIF) Secretariat.

Chikako Kodama

Chikako Kodama is a student in the doctoral program, Graduate School of Law, Hitotsubashi University. She is a development practitioner with over 20 years of experience in democratic governance and peacebuilding in Asia and the Arab States. She assumed different roles in the UN system including in the United Nations Development Programme and Resident Coordinator’s Office. Her last duty station was Cambodia and she served as Governance Chief Technical Advisor in UNDP from 2020 to 2023. Prior to joining the UN, she worked for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan at the headquarters and embassies.
