Comment on “President Trump: ‘Many Targets Still Remain’ — Speech on Iran Airstrikes.” [in Japanese]
On June 22, 2025, a comment on the Asahi Shimbun article “President Trump: ‘Many Targets Still Remain’ — Speech on Iran Airstrikes” by Professor Maiko Ichihara (Graduate School of Law) was published. The article reports on President Trump’s June 21 address at the White House to the American people regarding airstrikes against Iran’s nuclear facilities. Professor Ichihara pointed out that in recent years, the norms underpinning the international order—sovereignty, the prohibition of war, and human rights—have been challenged and weakened by major powers. She emphasized that, in order to prevent a regression to imperialism and to restore order, European countries and Japan should pursue proactive diplomacy.
