Event Outline

From September 4 to 7, 2025, the Institute for Global Governance Research (GGR) at Hitotsubashi University hosted a seminar titled “Countering Disinformation and Protecting Democracy.” This was the fourth seminar since the first session in 2023. Twelve participants—including university students, graduate students, and high school students from across Japan—took part. They learned the principles and methodologies of fact-checking and counter-narratives. After the seminar, participants shared their impressions: “disinformation is more pervasive than I had thought,” “Even information we believe to be accurate needs to be fact-checked,” and “I learned that counter-narratives are more effective than fact-checking in addressing disinformation.”
