〔Roundtable discussion〕The world pursued by EU data law
Professor Naoto Ikegai (Graduate School of Law, Hitotsubashi University) moderated a roundtable discussion with attorney Noriya Ishikawa and patent attorney Yuichi Saho titled “The world pursued by EU data law,” which was published in Jurist (No. 1599) in July 2024. They discuss the provisions of EU data law, its implications for Japan, and the importance of the new legal framework. It begins with an overview of data law and its key features, followed by an examination of specific issues and legal frameworks related to B2B data contracts, B2G data sharing, and the obligations of data processing service providers. It concludes with the perspectives and prospects for Japan’s data policy.
