About the speaker:
Alberto Alemanno, elected as the Jean Monnet Chair, is a professor at the HEC School of Management. He specializes in EU law and the democratization of the European Union. His main interest is how to use law to improve people’s lives. He is particularly interested in transforming power structures to counter social, economic, and political inequalities within and beyond European societies, and has written extensively on risk regulation, public health, consumer rights, food policy as a product of democratic innovation, participatory democracy, and deliberative democracy. His current research project focuses on the historical reconstruction of the EU’s “democracy problem” and the place of people in European integration.
