On July 28, 2024, the Institute for Global Governance Research (GGR) held the 13th Zoom meeting as part of the GGR intensive seminars, “Countering Disinformation and Protecting Democracy.” The participants of the GGR intensive seminars are currently working on papers on strategies to combat dis(mis)information based on the takeaways from the seminars. During this meeting, the Okinawa Group, the Japan-Korea Group, and the LGBT Group presented their drafts outlining their analysis of disinformation and their approaches to tackling it, and the participants discussed the drafts to refine. Six participants from the GGR intensive seminar, Prof. Maiko Ichihara (the Graduate School of Law and the School of International and Public Policy), and one GGR research assistant joined the meeting. GGR plans to continue holding regular meetings to discuss papers on disinformation.
